What happens at the survey?
Before we price bespoke shop joinery and counters in Galashiels, we check the lease, the landlord's fit-out rules, the existing services and how materials can get into the unit.
In and around Galashiels we are usually asked to work on boutiques and independent retailers and pharmacies and healthcare premises.
What is included?
- Laminate, veneer and painted finishes
- Delivery and installation
- Workshop drawings for approval

What should Galashiels owners check first?
- Counters should include a lowered section for wheelchair users.
- Hard-wearing edges matter more than the face finish on busy counters.
- Allow time for drawing approval before manufacture starts.
In Scotland, most fit-out work that alters the building needs a building warrant from the local authority before work starts, followed by a completion certificate. Planning permission and advertisement consent are separate, and Scottish councils publish their own shopfront design guidance.
