What happens at the survey?
Every convenience store and supermarket fit-out quote for Forfar lists each element separately, so you can see what the layout, joinery, services and finishes each cost.
In and around Forfar we are usually asked to work on cafés, takeaways and independent restaurants and convenience stores and off-licences.
What is included?
- Chiller and freezer positions with dedicated power
- Counter with tobacco gantry and lottery space
- CCTV, intruder alarm and security shutters
- Anti-slip commercial flooring
- Signage and price-ticket rails
What should Forfar owners check first?
- Your premises licence plan may need updating if the alcohol display area changes.
- Tobacco and vapes must be stored out of sight of customers, so the gantry needs closing doors or shutters.
- Refrigeration needs dedicated circuits and ventilation space; confirm the supply capacity before ordering chillers.
In Scotland, most fit-out work that alters the building needs a building warrant from the local authority before work starts, followed by a completion certificate. Planning permission and advertisement consent are separate, and Scottish councils publish their own shopfront design guidance.
