What happens at the survey?
Every shop signage and fascias quote for Edinburgh lists each element separately, so you can see what the layout, joinery, services and finishes each cost.
In and around Edinburgh we are usually asked to work on shopping centre units and retail park stores and salons, barbers and beauty clinics.
What is included?
- Built-up and illuminated letters
- Projecting and hanging signs
- Window vinyls and frosting
- Internal wayfinding
- Electrical connection and timers
What should Edinburgh owners check first?
- Signs over the pavement must have a safe clearance above the footway.
- Illuminated signs normally need advertisement consent from the council.
- Conservation areas often restrict internally lit box signs.
In Scotland, most fit-out work that alters the building needs a building warrant from the local authority before work starts, followed by a completion certificate. Planning permission and advertisement consent are separate, and Scottish councils publish their own shopfront design guidance.
