How do we plan the job?
The survey for aluminium shopfronts in Galashiels covers measurements, service capacity, access for deliveries and any planning or building control points.
In and around Galashiels we are usually asked to work on cafés, takeaways and independent restaurants and pharmacies and healthcare premises.
What is included?
- Toughened or laminated safety glass
- Single, double or automatic doors
- Level threshold and accessible door handles
- Stallriser and fascia panel
- Measured survey of the opening
What should Galashiels owners check first?
- Laminated glass holds together if broken, which helps security.
- A new shopfront usually needs planning permission, and more in a conservation area.
- Entrance doors should give a clear opening width that suits wheelchair users.
In Scotland, most fit-out work that alters the building needs a building warrant from the local authority before work starts, followed by a completion certificate. Planning permission and advertisement consent are separate, and Scottish councils publish their own shopfront design guidance.
