A takeaway fit-out is a compact commercial kitchen with a customer counter and a waiting area, built to food hygiene standards and with extraction that satisfies planning conditions.
What happens at the survey?
Before we price takeaway and hot food fit-out in Kilmarnock, we check the lease, the landlord's fit-out rules, the existing services and how materials can get into the unit.
In and around Kilmarnock we are usually asked to work on showrooms and trade counters and boutiques and independent retailers.
What is included?
- Extraction canopy and odour control
- Wall cladding and coved flooring
- Delivery driver collection point
- Waste and grease management
- Serving counter with display and hot holding
What should Kilmarnock owners check first?
- Hot food takeaways need planning permission for the use class, and many councils restrict new takeaways near schools.
- Odour control on the extraction is often a planning condition.
- Wall finishes must be smooth, washable and non-absorbent in food areas.
In Scotland, most fit-out work that alters the building needs a building warrant from the local authority before work starts, followed by a completion certificate. Planning permission and advertisement consent are separate, and Scottish councils publish their own shopfront design guidance.
