We carry out shop refurbishment and refit in Kelso and the surrounding parts of the Scottish Borders, managing every trade from strip-out to a clean handover.
A shop refurbishment updates an existing unit: new finishes, lighting, fixtures and layout, from a light refresh while you trade to a full strip-out and refit.
What happens at the survey?
The survey for shop refurbishment and refit in Kelso covers measurements, service capacity, access for deliveries and any planning or building control points.
In and around Kelso we are usually asked to work on pharmacies and healthcare premises and high street units and corner shops.
What is included?
- Flooring replacement
- Condition survey of the existing fit-out
- Strip-out and waste removal
- Redecoration and new finishes
- Lighting upgrade to LED
What should Kelso owners check first?
- Switching to LED lighting cuts running costs and heat load.
- Reusing sound fixtures can take a large slice off the cost.
- Older units may contain asbestos; a refurbishment survey is needed before strip-out.
In Scotland, most fit-out work that alters the building needs a building warrant from the local authority before work starts, followed by a completion certificate. Planning permission and advertisement consent are separate, and Scottish councils publish their own shopfront design guidance.
