A shop refurbishment updates an existing unit: new finishes, lighting, fixtures and layout, from a light refresh while you trade to a full strip-out and refit.
Working in Clwyd
In Clwyd we mostly see convenience stores and off-licences and high street units and corner shops. Each has its own landlord rules, service loads and access limits, which we look at on the first visit.
North Wales combines coastal resort towns with inland market towns, and seasonal trade means many owners want refits finished before Easter.
What does the work include?
- Strip-out and waste removal
- Redecoration and new finishes
- Lighting upgrade to LED
- Replacement fixtures and counters
Planning and building control in Clwyd
In Wales, the Building Regulations are set by the Welsh Government and applied by local authority building control. Shopfronts, signs and extraction flues need checking with the local planning authority, and many Welsh towns have conservation areas with stricter rules on shopfront design.
- Switching to LED lighting cuts running costs and heat load.
- Reusing sound fixtures can take a large slice off the cost.
