Commercial shop flooring contractors in Surrey
If you are opening, moving or refreshing a unit in Surrey, our commercial shop flooring service covers the layout, the build and the paperwork, with work planned around your trading hours.
Commercial shop flooring is hard-wearing floor covering laid for heavy foot traffic: sheet vinyl, luxury vinyl tile, porcelain, resin and entrance matting.
Working in Surrey
In Surrey we mostly see showrooms and trade counters and boutiques and independent retailers. Each has its own landlord rules, service loads and access limits, which we look at on the first visit.
Across the South East, market towns with conservation areas sit next to large retail parks, so shopfront design often needs to satisfy planners on the high street while retail park units follow the landlord's specification.
What does the work include?
- Commercial sheet vinyl and LVT
- Porcelain and ceramic tiling
- Resin and polished concrete
- Recessed entrance matting
What approvals might you need in Surrey?
In England, fit-out work that affects fire escape, structure, drainage or accessibility falls under the Building Regulations and is signed off by local authority or approved inspector building control. Shopfronts, extraction flues and illuminated signs are dealt with separately by the local planning authority.
- Kitchens and wet areas need a higher slip resistance rating.
- A poor subfloor shows through thin vinyl; levelling is worth paying for.
