Commercial shop flooring contractors in East Sussex
From Hastings to Lewes, we deliver commercial shop flooring for independent owners and multi-site operators across East Sussex, with fixed prices and a dated programme.
Commercial shop flooring is hard-wearing floor covering laid for heavy foot traffic: sheet vinyl, luxury vinyl tile, porcelain, resin and entrance matting.
What is shopfitting like in East Sussex?
Most enquiries we get from East Sussex come from boutiques and independent retailers or high street units and corner shops, and the survey is where we pick up the details that change the price.
Across the South East, market towns with conservation areas sit next to large retail parks, so shopfront design often needs to satisfy planners on the high street while retail park units follow the landlord's specification.
What does the work include?
- Recessed entrance matting
- Anti-slip finishes for wet areas
- Subfloor survey and levelling
- Commercial sheet vinyl and LVT
Planning and building control in East Sussex
In England, fit-out work that affects fire escape, structure, drainage or accessibility falls under the Building Regulations and is signed off by local authority or approved inspector building control. Shopfronts, extraction flues and illuminated signs are dealt with separately by the local planning authority.
- A poor subfloor shows through thin vinyl; levelling is worth paying for.
- Entrance areas should have matting to stop rain being walked into the shop.

It is strongly recommended. It keeps floors dry and reduces slips near the door.
