An aluminium shopfront is the glazed frame, doors and stallriser that make up the front of a shop, made to measure in powder-coated aluminium with toughened or laminated safety glass.
How is the work priced?
Every aluminium shopfronts quote for Johnstone lists each element separately, so you can see what the layout, joinery, services and finishes each cost.
In and around Johnstone we are usually asked to work on showrooms and trade counters and high street units and corner shops.
What is included?
- Single, double or automatic doors
- Level threshold and accessible door handles
- Stallriser and fascia panel
- Measured survey of the opening
- Powder-coated aluminium frames in any RAL colour
What should Johnstone owners check first?
- Laminated glass holds together if broken, which helps security.
- A new shopfront usually needs planning permission, and more in a conservation area.
- Entrance doors should give a clear opening width that suits wheelchair users.
In Scotland, most fit-out work that alters the building needs a building warrant from the local authority before work starts, followed by a completion certificate. Planning permission and advertisement consent are separate, and Scottish councils publish their own shopfront design guidance.
