An aluminium shopfront is the glazed frame, doors and stallriser that make up the front of a shop, made to measure in powder-coated aluminium with toughened or laminated safety glass.
How do we plan the job?
For St Albans jobs we confirm loading and parking arrangements early, because access often shapes the programme as much as the build itself.
In and around St Albans we are usually asked to work on cafés, takeaways and independent restaurants and high street units and corner shops.
What is included?
- Stallriser and fascia panel
- Measured survey of the opening
- Powder-coated aluminium frames in any RAL colour
- Toughened or laminated safety glass
- Single, double or automatic doors
What should St Albans owners check first?
- Laminated glass holds together if broken, which helps security.
- A new shopfront usually needs planning permission, and more in a conservation area.
- Entrance doors should give a clear opening width that suits wheelchair users.
In England, fit-out work that affects fire escape, structure, drainage or accessibility falls under the Building Regulations and is signed off by local authority or approved inspector building control. Shopfronts, extraction flues and illuminated signs are dealt with separately by the local planning authority.
