Takeaway and hot food fit-out for Torquay businesses
Need takeaway and hot food fit-out in Torquay? We survey the unit, draw the layout with you and give a fixed, itemised price before anything is ordered.
A takeaway fit-out is a compact commercial kitchen with a customer counter and a waiting area, built to food hygiene standards and with extraction that satisfies planning conditions.
How is the work priced?
For Torquay jobs we confirm loading and parking arrangements early, because access often shapes the programme as much as the build itself.
In and around Torquay we are usually asked to work on showrooms and trade counters and shopping centre units and retail park stores.
What is included?
- Extraction canopy and odour control
- Wall cladding and coved flooring
- Delivery driver collection point
- Waste and grease management
- Serving counter with display and hot holding
What should Torquay owners check first?
- Odour control on the extraction is often a planning condition.
- Wall finishes must be smooth, washable and non-absorbent in food areas.
- Hot food takeaways need planning permission for the use class, and many councils restrict new takeaways near schools.
In England, fit-out work that affects fire escape, structure, drainage or accessibility falls under the Building Regulations and is signed off by local authority or approved inspector building control. Shopfronts, extraction flues and illuminated signs are dealt with separately by the local planning authority.
Questions about takeaway and hot food fit-out in Torquay
Can you work in a dark kitchen unit?
Yes. Delivery-only kitchens follow the same hygiene and extraction rules without the customer counter.
Do I need planning permission for a takeaway?
A hot food takeaway is its own use class, so converting a shop usually needs planning permission. We check before you commit to the lease.
Is the survey free in Torquay?
Yes. We survey units in Torquay and across Devon free of charge, with no obligation.
How soon can work start in Torquay?
Surveys are usually booked within one to two weeks. Your quote includes a start date and a dated programme.
