What is shopfitting like in Glasgow?
In Glasgow we mostly see convenience stores and off-licences and showrooms and trade counters. Each has its own landlord rules, service loads and access limits, which we look at on the first visit.
West Central Scotland has the country's largest retail concentration, with city-centre units, shopping centres and suburban parades all needing building warrant approval for structural fit-out changes.

In Scotland, most fit-out work that alters the building needs a building warrant from the local authority before work starts, followed by a completion certificate. Planning permission and advertisement consent are separate, and Scottish councils publish their own shopfront design guidance.
- Tall units must be fixed to the wall or linked to stop them tipping.
- Leave aisles wide enough for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
