Retail shopfitting for Nairn businesses
Owners opening or refreshing a unit in Nairn use our retail shopfitting service to get one contract, one programme and one point of contact.
Retail shopfitting is the design, manufacture and installation of everything inside a shop that lets it trade: walls, ceilings, lighting, flooring, display fixtures, counters, fitting rooms and the services behind them.
How is the work priced?
The survey for retail shopfitting in Nairn covers measurements, service capacity, access for deliveries and any planning or building control points.
In and around Nairn we are usually asked to work on boutiques and independent retailers and shopping centre units and retail park stores.
What is included?
- Display walls, gondolas and counters
- Flooring, decorating and final clean
- Measured survey and floor plan
- Strip-out and making good
- Partitions, drylining and ceilings
What should Nairn owners check first?
- Landlord consent and the lease's fit-out guide usually need sign-off before work starts.
- Shopfitting inside a trading centre often has to run out of hours, so ask for a night-work price early.
- Fire alarm, emergency lighting and escape signage must be commissioned and certified before you open.
In Scotland, most fit-out work that alters the building needs a building warrant from the local authority before work starts, followed by a completion certificate. Planning permission and advertisement consent are separate, and Scottish councils publish their own shopfront design guidance.
Questions about retail shopfitting in Nairn

How soon can work start in Nairn?
Surveys are usually booked within one to two weeks. Your quote includes a start date and a dated programme.
Can you work around our existing shop while it trades?
Yes. We phase the work, screen off live areas and do the noisy and dusty trades out of hours so the shop can keep taking money.
