Convenience store and supermarket fit-out contractors in Gwent
From Newport to Cwmbran, we deliver convenience store and supermarket fit-out for independent owners and multi-site operators across Gwent, with fixed prices and a dated programme.
A convenience store fit-out lays out shelving, refrigeration, counters and security so a small footprint can carry a wide range and be run by one or two staff.
Working in Gwent
In Gwent we mostly see boutiques and independent retailers and convenience stores and off-licences. Each has its own landlord rules, service loads and access limits, which we look at on the first visit.
South Wales town centres, from the capital to the valleys, have many older terraced shop units where fit-outs need careful work around existing structure and services.
What does the work include?
- Counter with tobacco gantry and lottery space
- CCTV, intruder alarm and security shutters
- Anti-slip commercial flooring
- Signage and price-ticket rails
Planning and building control in Gwent
In Wales, the Building Regulations are set by the Welsh Government and applied by local authority building control. Shopfronts, signs and extraction flues need checking with the local planning authority, and many Welsh towns have conservation areas with stricter rules on shopfront design.
- Tobacco and vapes must be stored out of sight of customers, so the gantry needs closing doors or shutters.
- Refrigeration needs dedicated circuits and ventilation space; confirm the supply capacity before ordering chillers.
