Aluminium shopfronts in Derby
Owners opening or refreshing a unit in Derby use our aluminium shopfronts service to get one contract, one programme and one point of contact.
An aluminium shopfront is the glazed frame, doors and stallriser that make up the front of a shop, made to measure in powder-coated aluminium with toughened or laminated safety glass.
How do we plan the job?
For Derby jobs we confirm loading and parking arrangements early, because access often shapes the programme as much as the build itself.
In and around Derby we are usually asked to work on cafés, takeaways and independent restaurants and shopping centre units and retail park stores.
What is included?
- Toughened or laminated safety glass
- Single, double or automatic doors
- Level threshold and accessible door handles
- Stallriser and fascia panel
- Measured survey of the opening
What should Derby owners check first?
- Entrance doors should give a clear opening width that suits wheelchair users.
- Laminated glass holds together if broken, which helps security.
- A new shopfront usually needs planning permission, and more in a conservation area.
In England, fit-out work that affects fire escape, structure, drainage or accessibility falls under the Building Regulations and is signed off by local authority or approved inspector building control. Shopfronts, extraction flues and illuminated signs are dealt with separately by the local planning authority.
